When it comes to discerning the most competitive combos in the current Beyblade X environment, coming to the right conclusions can be difficult, especially for newer players.

The BEYCASE BeyBlog aims to provide both new and seasoned players with insight personalized insight and concise points from Dan. In this article we are going to go over the Top 5 best Beyblade combos that a player can build and use in a tournament to win.

Unlike my work on BEYBASE, these top 5 articles will feature dynamic part selection, meaning that you'll see our combos with a variety of different components listed because each has merit. This is a callback to the now very old "Competitive Combos List" on World Beyblade Organization forums.

Wizard Rod 9-60/3-60 Ball/Hexa

Our number one best Beyblade combo has to be a Wizard Rod based combo. This should come as no surprise to just about anyone that has paid close attention to the competitive scene since early 2024.

For newer players, the Wizard Rod Blade is a fairly smooth, heavy and well-balanced Blade. Coming in at over 35 grams, this circular behemoth is an absolute nightmare to try and knock-out or out-spin unless your opponent is also using some of the most top of the line combos themselves.

Readers will notice we have specified two different Ratchets and two different Bits, and this is deliberate.

For those that want maximum Burst Resistance and security, the 9-60 Bit is the Ratchet you should use. It is very smooth, decent lock tightness, and avoids any scraping or Xtreme Line contact

For those that want to maximize their stamina output, the 3-60 Ratchet is your calculated risk. It isn't quite as smooth as the 9-60 Ratchet, nor is it as safe from Burst risk. What it does have, though, is the ability to out-spin mirrored Wizard Rod combos that aren't using 3-60 as well.

Regarding the Ball or Hexa choice, this is also one of security vs. endurance.

The Ball Bit is unique in its movement patterns, almost incomparable raw spin-time, and versatility. With that said, its innate Burst Resistance is quite low, making it more prone to come apart. If launched improperly, it also leaves itself quite open to knock-outs.

The Hexa Bit on the other hand is noticeably harder to push around, meaning you are less likely to be knocked out. It also features a much more intense lock mechanism shaft making it very very difficult to Burst at all. The Hexa Bit unfortunately cannot compete with the Ball Bit or other similarly long-lasting Bits, making it an easy meal for opposing Stamina types.

In general, the Ball variation of Wizard Rod is played most, along with the 9-60 Ratchet to give you a good mix of endurance, launch versatility, and a smidge of Burst Resistance. The Hexa variation is meant to shut down most Attackers most of the time, and is very successful in doing so.

The way you choose to build your Wizard Rod should match your preferences as well as what you expect to see in-tournament from your opponents.

Expect to see some version of Wizard Rod at events, and be prepared to fight it and use it if you plan on topping any tournaments.

Phoenix Wing/Aero Pegasus 1-60 Rush/Cyclone/Point

Our next recommendation is an aggressive combo in either Phoenix Wing or the significantly rarer Aero Pegasus Blade. Both of these Blades serve the same purpose and feature the same behaviours, so for practical purposes we have them listed interchangeably here.

The Phoenix Wing/Soar Phoenix Blade as well as the Aero Pegasus Blade has some of the heaviest weight behind it, sitting at 38 grams alone. They also have aggressive designs that lend themselves to bullying opposing Beyblades out of the stadium or into the ground.

Compared to all other Attack Blade options, these two are among the most reliable in terms of matchup spread. While all top tier Attack Blades can have a shot at knocking out the likes of Wizard Rod, not all can say they do particularly well into other Attackers, making their overall matchup spread weaker by comparison.

Phoenix Wing/Soar Phoenix and Aero Pegasus have excellent weight, balance, endurance and power. This makes them a serious threat for hyper-aggressive attack types and stamina types alike. There isn't anything these Blades cannot reliably stare down currently.

When it comes to the Ratchet choice this is purely preference, as such, we didn't want to inundate you with choices. The 1-60 Ratchet was chosen because it has the ability to help Beyblades pop back out of the Over Zone pocket in stadiums without seriously compromising Burst Resistance or overall endurance.

Most any other Ratchet can be used here since aggressive combos in general seek to finish the game chaotically, not last as long as possible, so pick your favourite and your results should be similar enough.

The Rush and Point Bit divide is a real one. Rush Bit, and by extension the Cyclone Bit, offers you more aggression and similar endurance while Point offers more launch versatility and generally greater Life After Death (LAD). Since the Blade foundation leans into aggression and decent endurance at the same time, there really isn't a wrong answer here.

Both Bit options will give you a leg up stamina-wise against other Attackers running things like Flat, Low Flat, Accel etc. as well as enough KO-power to not invalidate their Stamina matchups.

Tyranno Beat 1-60/5-60 Point/Rush

Our next pick is the Tyranno Beat Blade on similarly high endurance Attack setups to our last combo. Tyranno Beat can be explosive at the very beginning of the match but loses steam quickly. Fortunately for the Tyranno Beat Blade, it doesn't roll over and die but instead keeps spinning for some time after its few big hits. In tandem with its astounding 37+ gram weight, Tyranno becomes a pain to bully but an effective bully itself.

The end result is a Blade that can score some pretty spectacular knock-outs at times, but most importantly, doesn't struggle much against other Attack types as it can usually outlast them decently well.

If the Phoenix Wing and Aero Pegasus Blades had a pretty even split of performance against both Attack and Stamina combos, the Tyranno Beat Blade is more like a 60-40 in favour of its matchups towards Attack with a slight hit to its consistency against things like Wizard Rod.

The same Ratchet and Bit logic applies, where competitive Attack combos look for either a gimmick or weight edge - 1-60 for the pop-out chance of 5-60 for a bit of added weight. Point for the added endurance and Life After Death or Rush for the bit of extra power.

Tyranno Beat is an excellent choice for players that want something aggressive that doesn't completely topple over after a hit or two, but can stand against the best Attackers and win.

Shark Edge 3-60/1-60 Low Flat/Accel/Flat/Rush

Our penultimate combo recommendation is essentially the stock product Shark Edge/Keel Shark. You could take this out of the package and have a 35 gram nuclear bomb in your arsenal from the get-go.

Shark Edge/Keel Shark Blade is spectacular and securing knock-outs and landing crazy blows onto the opponent, a Wizard Rod combo's worst nightmare essentially. Having said that, Shark lacks much of any endurance, making it a pretty big gamble into other attack types.

Shark Edge/Keel Shark is excellent to secure knock-outs, but if you're against a heavy attack type or find yourself with an opponent still in the stadium by your 3rd or 4th hit, don't expect a huge Shark Edge upset. It is most likely to lose by Spin Finish.

The choice of Low Flat is to promote as much Blade contact as possible, with the chance to hit the opponent's Ratchet for a quick Burst Finish.

Accel Bit is taking the Burst win condition to the extreme. This Bit employs a very hard tilting launch where the Shark Blade is pointed up at the sky rather than perpendicular to the stadium floor. This angle can be very awkward for anything to work around, because the Shark Blade is almost guaranteed to make Ratchet contact from that position, posing a huge threat.

The Flat or Rush choice is growing increasingly irrelevant as more niche set ups like Accel or more standard set ups like Low Flat increase in popularity and reliablity into other combos. While Flat and Rush Bits can both produce results, they don't give you as much of a unique spin on a Shark Edge/Keel Shark combo like other Bits do.

Whale Wave 3-60/9-60 Low Flat/Accel

Our final pick is a newer Whale Wave Blade combo. This combo shares all its fundamentals with Shark Edge but with a bump in weight nearing the 38 gram mark. This is another glass cannon combo that relies on early aggression to score a quick victory condition (Xtreme Finish, Burst Finish or Knock Out).

Just like Shark Edge, Whale Wave is well equipped to handle even the sturdiest of Stamina types at the beginning of the match, but falters in the middle to late game. It also can pose a serious risk to other Attack types at the start, but if you don't secure victory fast there is little hope of a Spin Finish victory.

This kind of "over in a flash" combo sees popularity at the moment due to the sheer dominance of Wizard Rod based combos, and the more we see of those static but realiable combos the more we will see huge explosive Attack combos in the spotlight too.

Overall, Whale Wave is an excellent Blade for those that want high octane gameplay every single match, even if it means every match may not go their way. As scary as it is for Wizard Rod to see Whale Wave, Whale Wave should fear the more balanced Attack Blades that are just as prevalent.
